T3 Keele University ketamine awareness drop-in

Our T3 keyworkers Lakin and Terry organised a campaign at Keele University as part of the initiative to raise awareness about ketamine use. A number of students and staff attended to discuss the T3 referral pathway as well as other treatment pathways. The risks of ketamine and ketamine bladder were discussed and keyworkers provided harm reduction advice to those in attendance.

T3 harm reduction school drop-ins

Our T3 worker in the North, Terry, has been working incredibly hard throughout January, visiting several schools and running drop-in sessions focused on harm reduction advice and education around a range of substances, for young people aged between 11 and 16. One of these sessions was also supported by our wonderful YOS worker, Swayzie.

Tamworth Hub has co-located into their new building with Better Way Recovery

The STaRS hub in Tamworth has relocated to The Whitehouse on Church Street.
To mark co-locating into the new hub with Better Way Recovery we hosted a special launch event, bringing together our fantastic partners, stakeholders and staff members for an early look and chance to celebrate this new chapter. The event featured a ribbon cutting, wonderful food and plenty of conversation and connection.
The event was a celebration, not just of the new location, but of all the fantastic people behind this service and the partnerships that will shape the future of the hub in Tamworth. We are excited to see where the hub grows and welcome new possibilities and progress.

T3 STaRS attended an Empowering Families Event in East Staffordshire

Helen and Lily, two of the Young Person’s Drug and Alcohol specialists at T3 STaRS, attended an ‘Empowering Families’ event at a secondary school in East Staffordshire in October.
The ‘Empowering Families’ event was a wonderful opportunity for East Staffordshire agencies to come together to offer support and signposting for children, families and all other professionals in attendance.

Re-solv training

Danielle, who works as a Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Specialist co-located within the Intensive Prevention Service (IPS) team, recently arranged training from Re-Solv, the national gas and solvent use charity.
The session aimed to help staff recognise the signs of substance use support needs, feel confident in asking the right questions, and understand the associated risks.
This joint initiative reflects the strong partnership between services and our shared commitment to early intervention. It also contributes to our joint goal in raising awareness and improving outcomes for young people on the edge of care, and those going through reunification.

UK Recovery Walk

In September, some of our STaRS team attended the UK Recovery Walk in Wolverhampton set up by Faces & Voices of Recovery UK.
It was a pleasure to see the recovery walk bringing together thousands of people to share hope and unity, and celebrate with an afternoon of music and fun.

UK Recovery Conference

In honour of Recovery Month this September, some of the STaRS team attended the UK Recovery Conference in Wolverhampton hosted by Faces & Voices of Recovery UK.
Being at the conference meant witnessing some academic presentations and the event also included some very inspirational shares.
